Inspiration pt1: ADHD - Icelandic jazz

From time to time I will introduce music and musicians who inspired me while writing and producing my album Me&You :

ADHD – Jazz from Iceland

Where is the bassist? No matter, still awesome! ADHD is probably the first band without designated bassists to leave a lasting impression . In 2013, I saw the Icelandic jazz band live at the Mojo Club. Berlin based Sebastian Studnitzky introduced the artists of his then newly found label Cotemplate Music.

Extremely casual grooves, seemingly simple but beautiful melodies, suspended tempi, and everything very special and unique.

Óskar Gudjónsson on the tenor is known for his work with Mezzoforte, he plays insanely tasteful solos. Davíð Þór Jónsson at Hammond organ, Moogs, Rhodes & Piano creates impressive soundscapes, Magnús Trygvason Eliassen plays very, very offhand drums and Ómar Guðjónsson completes the whole with his distinctive guitar playing.

ADHD 3 & 4 is my favorite album, Fjölmeni & Sættast have been a long time irreplaceable playlist top scorer.

An dieser Stelle werde ich in loser Folge Musik und MusikerInnen vorstellen, die mich inspiriert haben im Entstehungsprozess meines aktuellen Albums Me&You:

ADHD – Jazz aus Island

Wo ist der Bassist? Egal, trotzdem tierisch! ADHD ist wohl die erste Band ohne designierten Bassisten, die ich mich derartig nachhaltig beeindruckt hat. 2013 habe ich die Isländische Jazz Band live gesehen im Mojo Club – auf der Labelnacht von Contemplate, dem Label des Berliner Trompeters Sebastian Studnitzky.

Extrem lässige Grovves, scheinbar simple aber betörend schöne Melodien, abgehangene Tempi, und alles ganz eigen.

Óskar Gudjónsson am Tenor dürfte dem ein oder Anderen von Mezzoforte bekannt sein, er spielt wahnsinnig geschmackvolle Soli. Davíð Þór Jónsson an Hammond orgel, Moogs, Rhodes & Piano schafft beeindruckende Klangflächen, Magnús Trygvason Eliassen spielt sehr, sehr lässige Drums und Ómar Guðjónsson rundet das ganze ab mit seinem unverwechselbaren Gitarrenspiel.

ADHD 3&4 ist bis dato mein Lieblingsalbum, Fjölmeni & Sættast waren eine lange Zeit unumstößliche Playlist Top Scorer.
