Through my live online bass lessons, I share with you my 25 years of experience as a bassist, musical director, composer, producer and teacher

  • bassist and/or musical director for Söhne Mannheims, Peter Fox (DVD “Live aus Berlin”), Aloe Blacc, Nils Wülker (On, Up, Just Here Just Now), Dendemann (TV Show “Neo Magazin Royale”
  • studio recordings for Chima, Yvonne Catterfeld, Jazzanova and film soundtracks
  • musical studies at HFM “Hans Eisler” in Berlin
  • composition and production: Edward Maclean’s Adoqué, ‘Schwarze Adler’ Soundtrack
  • label founder (r3w records)
  • co-writings with Eska Mtungwazi, Fetsum, Chima, Stephanie Neigel

Along the way there has been a lot of doubt and even more dreams, but, above all, an on-going development as an instrumentalist, a musician and as a person. I have had wonderful bass teachers, coaches and have observed, questioned and read a lot (artists’ biographies, self-development books from Toni Robbins and Tim Ferris or books such as The Artist’s Way).

About my lessons:

I have 2 primary focuses:

  1. Groove essentials and dynamic accompaniment

The sound of the ensemble is always the first priority for me. In order to play appropriately for a band, a song or music generally, you have to base your thinking around the groove. Playing in time is the first step, but groove is far more than just playing in time. And every song or composition is a story that needs to be told, to be developed together with the band. When playing, I pay special attention to the following:

  • phrasing and playing in time
  • developing a concept of groove and following it
  • communicating with the band
  • deciding where to push forward and where to hold back

What this means for the lesson is: we find out where you can improve your playing and what choices you might be overlooking in certain areas. Together, we develop exercises to help you advance. The goal is to channel your attention and way of thinking so that you develop yourself further. I see myself here as the instigator.

  1. Growth & career coaching

I want to help you navigate the jungle of information and opportunities and to find a way to increase your concentration while remaining open. This involves answering the following questions, among others:

  • At what point do you find yourself right now?
  • Where do you want to go?
  • What are your short-term, medium-term and long-term goals?
  • How can you reach these goals? What is the next step?
  • How do you know that you are developing?

You know best where you want to get to. I can accompany you and support you on your journey.
